The way I found out it by checking voltage+ohm resistance at different temps. In your case you may have a combo of problems going on. Cold idle rough.įor example, I have a ECT sensor out of range which I plan on replacing, my cold start-ups (below 30 deg F outside) are awful, it still works but it within specs but not enough to throw a code. The computer can compensate for some fluctuations but the cars performance can suffer. The check engine will not always illuminate, the sensor(s) may be out of range. i notice that it seems when its really hot outside the engine doesnt act up, but other times it does.Ĭan anyone give me any suggestions as to what may be causing this problem? thanks. The only thing thats changed recently is that its been getting warmer in the day. air filter, recent oil/filter change, transmission fluid change (these did not cause the problem). Ive had regular maintenance on the car, incl. he ended up cleaning up the fuel injector. The day i brought it to the mechanic, he didnt get the problem after driving around a bit. happens in reverse gear too, but doesnt seem to happen in neutral or park (in neutral, the car idles at around 900 rpm). This sometimes happens many times in a row, and then sometimes i dont get it, but its always in idle.

During that time, the tach will momentarily jump from about ~700 to ~900 rpm. during idle, the engine will sometimes shudder momentarily, for about a split second. Recently my car (2000 c230k, 102k miles) has started idling funny.
